Belinda well abandoned
23rd November 2021
Tailwind is pleased to announce that the Belinda appraisal well 21/30-27 in the Central North Sea has now been fully abandoned in line with regulatory guidelines. This operation underscores Tailwind’s commitment to fulfil its decommissioning obligations in the UKCS. The abandonment was managed and executed by Maersk Supply Service, contracted through our Well Operator PetroFac Facilities Management Limited.
The 21/30-27 well was drilled by Shell in 2016 to appraise the Belinda discovery and suspended as a possible future producer. Tailwind continues to assess the potential for a development of Belinda pending the longer term production performance of the Evelyn field which is planned to be on-stream in Q4 2022. Belinda feasibility studies concluded that a new well would be more optimal in the event of development. Tailwind is the 100% owner of the Evelyn Field and the Belinda discovery, both located in licence P.1792.
