Protecting the environment in which we operate is a core requirement across our business
We aim to continually improve the design and execution of activities in order to reduce the risk of emissions, loss of containment, or failures that may cause harm to the environment.
Tailwind takes a shared approach to caring for the environment through its Environmental, Health and Safety Management System. Accountability for environmental protection runs throughout the company, with employees and contractors expected to contribute equally to environmental best practices and actively encouraged to challenge working practices and procedures where they think improvements can be made.
We acknowledge the hazardous environment in which we work and take all appropriate measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our people, and the environment in which they operate. We also encourage cross-learning from our industry partners and stakeholders, to ensure that we as an industry are consistently made aware of best practices to minimise our impact on the environment. We participate in the EU Emissions Trading System through the operators of our production facilities.
As well as adhering to all applicable environmental and international standards, we actively support the global energy transition through maximizing recovery from existing assets and our decommissioning work. We acknowledge and support the need to transition from the existing hydrocarbon economy to limit the effects of climate change on society. Tailwind is a contributing member of bodies such as OGUK that has a defined plan and timeline for the UK Oil and Gas Industry to help achieve the UK Government target of net-zero carbon by 2050.
